Join CDI for our upcoming seminar series featuring Leslie J. Baier, PhD for her talk entitled, "Understanding the Heritable Basis for Type 2 Diabetes in an Indigenous Population."

Dr. Baier is the Section Chief of the Phoenix Epidemiology & Clinical Research Branch of the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK).  Her research team focuses on identifying the heritable basis for type 2 diabetes and obesity among Pima Indians. The Pima Indians of Arizona have the highest rates of diabetes and obesity in North America. Her research seeks to both understand and quantify specific genetically determined factors that could aid in the prevention of the diseases as well as improvements in treatment.
