U-M Caswell Diabetes Institute Shines at ADA Scientific Sessions 2025

Monday, July 14, 2025

This year’s American Diabetes Association (ADA) 85th Scientific Sessions were a remarkable showcase of innovation, collaboration, and expertise, with the University of Michigan Caswell Diabetes Institute proudly at the mic and conversing at the poster hall. Over 50 CDI members contributed as presenters, panelists, and poster authors, reflecting our institute’s leadership in advancing diabetes research and care.

Among the many highlights, Dr. Randy Seeley provided a compelling rebuttal on the Central Regulation of Energy Balance, sparking dynamic scientific discussion. Dr. Maria Coronel’s engaging presentation on Biomaterials to Improve Islet Transplantation drew strong interest for its forward-thinking approach to enhancing treatment outcomes. Dr. Kara Mizokami-Stout packed the room with her session, Addressing the Psychological Burdens of Diabetes Complications, demonstrating the importance of holistic patient care alongside groundbreaking research.

Beyond the scientific sessions, the opportunities to cheer on our colleagues, catch up with old and new friends, and build new collaborations were truly unparalleled. The vibrant energy and sense of community among CDI members at the ADA underscores not only our commitment to scientific excellence but also the supportive spirit that defines our institute.

Congratulations to all CDI presenters and contributors who continue to make an impact in the field of diabetes research and patient care!
